Monel K500 is a strong nickel-copper alloy that can be hardened through a process involving aluminum and titanium. This alloy offers excellent resistance to corrosion and fatigue, making it suitable for various applications. It remains strong even at low temperatures and up to about 480°C.
Applications of Monel K500 include use in propeller and pump shafts, as well as in pumps, valves, and components for manufacturing chemicals like perchlorethylene and chlorinated plastics. It is also utilized in marine environments due to its high strength and resistance to corrosion in seawater.
Monel K500 is non-magnetic and requires annealing after welding, followed by stress relief before aging to maintain its properties.
