Alloy 800H and 800HT are strong alloys made of iron, nickel, and chromium, designed to handle high temperatures without deforming. They have different amounts of aluminum and titanium, with 800HT having less, making it better for long-term use in very hot conditions. These alloys are used in industries like oil refining, heat treating, and power generation, where they face extreme temperatures and need to resist rust and other types of corrosion.
The alloys resist rust because of their high nickel and chromium content. They can be shaped when very hot, but shouldn’t be worked between 1200°F and 1600°F. After hot work, they should cool quickly and avoid staying too long at moderate temperatures. When cold working, the metal should be in its softest state. It might need stress relief or annealing, depending on how much it was worked and how it will be used.
