At Steel Alloys strengthening of super alloys is performed by solid-solution hardening, work hardening, and precipitation hardening methods and so for Nimonic 901. Therefore, ASTM B463 Nimonic 901 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that is precipitation hardened using heat treatment. Alloy 901 is favored for use in oxidizing environments with temperatures of about 593°C (1100°F).

UNS N09901 material Alloy 901 is an age-hardenable super alloy which contains Titanium and Aluminum for precipitation hardening and molybdenum for solid-solution strengthening. Nimonic Alloy 901 has high yield strength and creep resistance at temperatures 1110°F (600°C). This Alloy Nr. 901 has a significant amount of iron content which enables it to combine strength with good forging characteristics. Commonly used applications are for gas turbine engine discs, shafts, rings, casings, seals etc.
