Alloy 330, also known as UNS N08330, is a type of iron-nickel-chromium alloy that belongs to the austenitic superalloy family. It’s highly favored for its ability to resist oxidation and carburization at high temperatures. This alloy contains 34%-37% nickel and chromium, which provides excellent protection against both oxidation (exposure to oxygen) and carburization (carbon buildup).
It remains stable even under repeated heating and cooling cycles and in environments that alternate between carburizing and oxidizing conditions. Alloy 330 is versatile and available in various forms such as seamless and welded pipes, tubes, bars, wires, sheets, plates, forgings, pipe fittings, and flanges.
Applications of Alloy 330 span several industries:
Chemical and Petrochemical Processing: Used in components for cracked ammonia, petrochemical furnaces, waste remediation units, heat exchangers, and flares.
Ore Processing: Equipment for perlite systems.
Power Generation: Fixtures for boilers, components for gas turbines.
Thermal Processing: Containers and components for heat-treat furnaces, high-temperature fans, and salt pots.
Specifications for INCOLOY® Alloy 330 include SAE AMS 5592, 5716; SAE J405, J412; ASTM B 511, B 512, B 535, B 536, B 546, B 710; and ASME SB-511, SB-536, SB-710, meeting standards for use in various boiler and pressure vessel applications according to Boiler Code Sections I, VIII, and IX.
