Titanium 6-2-4-2 is a high-strength, near-alpha titanium alloy known for its excellent combination of tensile strength, creep resistance, and toughness. It maintains stability at temperatures up to 425°C (800°F) and often includes up to 0.1% silicon to enhance creep resistance. The alloy is produced through processes like vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB) melting, or plasma arc cold hearth melting (PAM).
Common forms of Ti 6-2-4-2 include forging billets, forged or rolled bars, flat rolled products, extrusions, and wire. It is widely used in gas turbine engines for components such as compressor blades, discs, and impellers, as well as in afterburner structures and airframe skins.
